Unforced Love

December 1989
To my Princess,
A fruitful relationship is like the seeds of flowers floating on currents of air.
Floating along freely and unpredictably, like the flight pattern of a butterfly.
Yet the seeds land in pre-assigned places, according to a plan
a plan based on a solid foundation with room to learn and grow.
In this way, the seeds from two flowers in a field fill, in a functionally chaotic course, this same field with many flowers.
And the planting done by this means, yields surprisingly, a harmonious array, each flower individually highlighting the whole with the distinct colors of its petals.

The disruption of this process results in an erratic, clashing pattern with little fruitage.
When a child grabs hold of floating seeds, right away they are soiled and smothered by his hands.
He leads them by force to his pleasure.
Running across and about the field, destroying flowers never to be seen.
The seeds in his hand land thoughtlessly at his disposal in a crushed condition.
Finally it rains and they are washed away.
